Experience Sets Us Apart
The members and personnel of VKW Construction have over 150 years of combined experience in the construction industry specializing in all forms of construction ranging from office condominiums, retail shopping centers, telecom facilities, hotels, churches, restaurants and tenant improvements.
Founding members Keith Wilson and Troy Witherwax are involved in all aspects of our projects to insure that our clients are satisfied with the finished product. Keith oversees marketing, estimating and daily project management, while remaining personally involved to ensure project delivery on time. Troy directs the financial and operational activities of VKW and is integral in the management and delivery of projects within budget.
Leadership Team
Keith Wilson, President and Co-Founder of VKW Construction has been in the construction industry for over 40 years and has worked in the hospitality industry over the last 20 years. Prior to the formation of VKW Construction, Keith was Vice President of a large general contracting firm building over 2,500 residential homes in Arizona and has worked in the public and private side of construction in all areas. Keith’s diverse background and experiences have allowed him to understand the challenges hotel owners face each day. Keith’s goal is to assist the client and understand their objective, goals and schedule for the work which is to be done. Today, Keith takes his many years of construction experience and teams up with multiple clients to navigate their hotel renovation project expectations; including establishing budgets, coordinating material responsibilities, working with Architects and Interior Designers on product/design issues and assisting on construction methods and procedures.
Troy Witherwax, Chief Operating Officer and Co-Founder for VKW Construction has been in the commercial construction business for over 35 years and started in the hospitality industry working on his first hotel 30 years ago. Prior to joining VKW Construction, Troy worked in conjunction with the Four Seasons, Grand Wailea and Kea Lani hotels in Maui, Hawaii, constructing multi-family housing in order to meet the three hotels pre-opening requirements. This is where he first met and worked with Keith. The large multi-family project experience obtained while working in Hawaii, along with his years of commercial construction experience turned out to be invaluable. Troy is responsible for the overall operations for VKW Construction where he has been a vital part of VKW’s success & growth by managing the day to day operations of the company along with working directly with the construction management team to assist owners in their complex project situations.
Kenny Sumner, Construction Manager for VKW Construction has been in the construction industry for more than 35 years and has worked in the hospitality industry over the last 15 years. Kenny started out his career in the field as a framing carpenter and has held many other management positions before becoming Construction Manager with VKW. Kenny is responsible for the coordination and management of all on-site personnel and construction activities for all brands. Kenny is a very accountable leader who ensures each VKW project is executed within established guidelines. His extensive background as a skilled craftsman exemplifies his understanding of field operation, planning and management. His experience in the construction industry allows him to oversee multiple projects while researching and complying with varying governing authorities in each city. Kenny has developed into a resourceful, reliable construction manager possessing excellent problem-solving skills and displays professional interaction with owners as well as subcontractors.
Wendy Case, Financial Controller for VKW Construction has been in the construction industry for over 40 years and has worked in the hospitality industry over the last 10 years. Wendy started out in the residential sector of construction and after 5 years quickly moved on and starting working with a Top 400 general contractor, who provided commercial construction. There she moved from accounting clerk to Controller and worked directly with the CFO. Wendy has been working with VKW Construction since 1999 and is responsible for all daily financial functions and works directly with VKW’s financial institution, insurance companies and our clients. Wendy has worked with various financial accounting programs including Foundation and has worked on several different payment systems including Textura Construction Payment Management System. Wendy continues to contribute to VKW’s financial success.
